Congratulations, you have just found the vacuum that pet owners love. The question isn't do you want this vacuum, the question is do you really want to pay so much for a vacuum.
You won't find big discounts on the Dyson but there are some ways to save some money. Ordering online from a merchant that doesn't have a store in your state usually means you pay no sales tax. Most online merchants will give you free shipping. 8% tax on $400.00 is $32.00 that is a lot of money. You paid enough tax on your money when you earned it, why give more of it to the state just so you can clean your floor? Instead use that money to buy a Furminator Deshedding Tool. Over 600 users agree it is great at removing the undercoat from dogs. I have one for my Husky & Malamute furkids.
The DC07 was the first model Dyson in the USA and came with a two year warranty. Then new model DC14 Vacuum and DC17 Vacuum have a 5 year warranty.
I went a week without vacuuming so I could make this little video to show the power of the Dyson. I have 2 very hairy dogs so there is lots of hair to pick up. Look closely at the bottom of the canister when I first turn the vacuum on and notice it is empty. Look at this area again right before I turn it off and you can see how much hair and dirt it picked up in a very small area.
I bought my yellow Dyson DC07 in Oct 2003 and have had no problems, it is without a doubt the best vacuum I have ever owned and well worth the money. I used to kill a vacuum every year. All reports I have read say that Dyson customer service is excellent. If you do have a problem they will take care of you. In fact their 800 number is right on the vacuum handle.

Buying a factory refurbished Dyson can save you over $100.00 but you only get a 6 month warranty. Chances are if you don't find a defect right off it is going to be fine. The refurbished models are often out of stock.
I decided to have some fun the other day so I took my Dyson over to a friends house and left it for the day. You paid how much for a vacuum cleaner she asked? There is NO WAY I am spending that much money on a vacuum cleaner she said. hahaha. When I returned later that afternoon to pick it up, she said she is buying one! I have loaned my Dyson to several people and they always wind up buying one after trying it.
I have now had my Dyson four years, I have sucked up enough dog hair to make several sled dog teams. This is the first vacuum I have owned 4 years. Usually I break them and buy a new one in less than 2 years. Besides breaking them there used to be constant battles with them, broken belts, clogs, you name it. It was always a fight when I had to vacuum.
They say a sucker is born every minute,
but the Dyson Vacuum took 5 years and over 5000 prototypes to develop.
A fool on the other hand is born every minute. Major vacuum
manufacturers turned down James Dyson's new technology. Dyson decided
to manufacturer the vacuum himself and in under 2 years it was
the best selling vacuum in the UK. The Dyson Vacuumfirst
became available in the USA in 2002 and is currently the best selling
vacuum in Western Europe. The Dyson DC07 Vacuum Cleaner was awarded
the British
Allergy Foundation Seal of Approval. The Dyson
DC14 was released
in October 2004.
I bought my Dyson vacuum in October
of 2003, I held out for a long time because of the high price.
I didn't mind spending the money but I wanted to make sure I got
a vacuum that could really deal with dog hair. I did a lot of reasearch
and wound up with the Dyson. Don't hold out, this vacuum is well
worth the money. I bought the yellow
Dyson
and currently use my turbo tool from my old Hoover windtunnel.
It's
not a perfect fit, but it works well to get dog hair off the couch.
The things I like most about the
Dyson next to the powerful suction: The 35'
cord means I can reach
most everything without unplugging the vacuum. There are many access
points so you can quickly clear any clogs. Have to say I haven't
had any clogs with this vacuum yet. There are no filters
or bags to buy. With the amount of hair my dog puts out I could easily
fill a bag a in less than a week, that would get expensive. Dyson has a clutch
mechanism to protect the belt. It will slip and make a noise if
something tries to get stuck in there. Four years and I haven't
broken a belt! There is one filter which is removable and you should
wash it once every six months. The belt is well protected, when
I cut my long hair off the roller I can see no hair in the belt
area.
