Robot vacuum cleaner makes life easier for people with
disabilities
A new customer survey shows that the automatic,
self-operated Trilobite vacuum cleaner from Electrolux is highly appreciated
by people with disabilities.
Old age, hurt backs and difficulty walking
can make it hard to clean. Even slight disabilities can make vacuuming
a torture.
Electrolux has conducted a survey among
Trilobite users. It shows that elderly persons who experience difficulty
walking, bending, and lifting and carrying weights, or who are generally
too tired to clean especially appreciate the automatic vacuum cleaner.
Trilobite is the world’s first robotic
vacuum cleaner. When you start it, it first seeks a wall. Then it takes
a lap around the perimeter of the room. It does this not only to vacuum
the dust and refuse that often collects there, but also to take a ”picture” of
the room. The vacuum cleaner then covers the whole room on its own. When
it nears an obstacle on the floor, it plots a new course. Trilobite then
continues until the whole floor has been vacuumed.
When it is done vacuuming, it makes its
own way back to the charger and docks for charging.
